A well-informed patient is the best kind of patient!

Dr. Meredith and the rest of the Monroe Audiology staff are happy to let you know what to expect when you visit the office and begin the process of getting your hearing back:

  1. Hearing test to find out what you’re facing.

Thorough test. We rule out any easily treatable conditions – ear infections, wax. We also look for dangerous conditions – anything that would be a threat to your health and to your hearing.

If it’s benign, natural hearing loss…

  2. Hearing aid demo – try out different ones, see what you like, what you don’t like.

You try hearing aids and make sure there are no adverse reactions. We want make sure it’s a positive experience.

If you decide to go ahead with hearing aids, the doctor will present options. Low, middle, and high options (entry, middle, high) all have different price points and different abilities.

It’s about lifestyle and needs, not necessarily the most expensive or the latest technology. We’ll make sure what you purchase fits your lifestyle.

You are empowered to make your own decision. You won’t be sold a hearing aid that you don’t need. Once you’ve settled on a device, it usually arrives within a couple of days and we schedule the fitting appointment.

  3. Fitting Appointment - At your fitting appointment you'll learn how to be self-sufficient with your hearing aids. Before you walk out the door with your new device in your ears, you'll feel like an expert in all areas of hearing aid use and care. The proving ground for hearing aids is the real world, so you'll be given 2-3 weeks to put them to the test before your first check-up.

  4. Your 1st Check-up - At your first check-up we'll make sure things are going as well in the real world as they did in the office. Routine follow-up is done every 6 months or as needed should you encounter a question or a problem. Remember, all follow-up appointments are free for the life of the hearing aid.
